Briana Jamieson
Briana Jamieson is a painter and writer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. She holds a BFA(Hons) from Massey University and runs a publishing project called Mineral. Briana describes her painting and poetry practice to be reciprocally influential on the other, moving from one to the other as they call out.
To celebrate the opening of our new store, Briana painted a series of irises, inspired by the fabrics in our latest collection. "I planned this series of paintings in late August, sitting under the light shade of trees on the bank of a grassy cliff overlooking the sea. Sweet white flowers covered the trees, and delicate yellow flowers on long stems floated in the grass, petals backlit by the sun. I could hear the water lapping at the shore below and the sea was glittering and blue; reminding me of the iridescent blue fabric of Penny Sage’s Sea Anemone Party Girl Dress, which caught my eye and inspired me when I first saw the SS25/26 lookbook. One week until spring and there was a fresh warmth in the air. Birds were chirping happily in the trees and bees hummed around the white flowers in the tree’s branches. In the distance, the snow capped mountains melted gently in the sun." - Briana Jamieson
